About Buck

Buck Hogue

Owner / Lead Project Developer

Buck is passionate about serving our clients through thorough project planning, effective communication, and focused attention on every project. He loves the creative design aspects of the project, and turning our client’s vision into a beautiful space.

Our focus on customer experience means that Buck has his hand in all of our remodels. He takes all initial meetings, leads our project design process, develops the functional cabinetry layouts, creates proposals, oversees all aspects of production (with the help of our project manager), and completes end-of-project meetings with our clients to see how we can be improving our services.

Buck started our business as a home improvement company: completing projects such as fences, porch covers, and interior carpentry repairs. Due to the help of many people along the way, and an abundance of construction education, we have been able to grow into the full service remodeling and custom cabinetry company we are today.

Buck is married to Renee. They live in Bryan, in a house that will likely never stop being remodeled. They have three children, Olivia, Scarlett, and Stephen, who keep them plenty busy!

About Renee

Renee Hogue

Owner / Design & Selections Assistant

Renee works directly with Buck to design all of our renovation projects. She schedules on-site meetings, material selection meetings, and puts together all design details of a project into our Scope of Work / Design Package. She communicates with subs regarding scope of work and cost, keeps our design schedule on track, and sets the initial construction schedule for all projects.

Renee also loves to keep things in order behind the scene. She handles most office related tasks such as bookkeeping, invoicing, and other tasks that come with running a business. She has a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in Psychology with a minor in mathematics. While seemingly different areas of study, they have both been very beneficial in business ownership.

Buck and Renee are married and have three children, Olivia, Scarlett, & Stephen. The Hogues love to go on family bike rides and play board games in their free time. Buck & Renee met while working together at Powersports as after school and summer day camp counselors, and have happily worked together the majority of their relationship.

About David

David Oddo

Project Manager

David is a stickler for quality construction. One of his common phrases is, “it’s all about the transitions.” Whether it’s flooring to trim, cabinetry to tile, drywall to cabinetry, etc., clean transitions is what makes a good remodel great. His eye for detail and ability to problem solve in unique construction situations is why we trust him with our projects.

We brought David back on our team in the Fall of 2020. Previously, he worked for us in 2017 and 2018 as a lead carpenter. David is an extremely skilled cabinet maker, and has decades of experience as a remodeler. (Before David worked for us, we used another local cabinet maker for our remodels.) We are so thankful for the time Buck got to spent working one on one with David during those years. David helped us set up our cabinet shop, and taught Buck much of what he now knows about cabinet construction. David’s skills allowed us to start offering in-house cabinetry for our remodels, which meant our clients were receiving high quality cabinets at a competitive price, and in a timely manner. (Local, quality cabinet makers can have a lead time of six weeks or more.)

In the summer of 2018, David decided he needed a management position as opposed to a manual labor position. At the time, our company was not at a size where we could hire a full time project manager. However, our company grew significantly in the past few years, and by the Fall of 2020 we were ready for some project management help. Buck reached back out to David, and he managed a master bathroom remodel for us. The clients had glowing reviews about his communication and eye for detail, and we are thankful to continue to have his help as we enter 2021!

About Ashley

Ashley Schumann

Lead Field Carpenter

Ashley’s love for woodworking started in his wood-shop class in Junior High, and he now comes to us with 22 years of experience in the commercial custom millwork industry, completing both on-site work and management of projects. While he has spent the majority of his career thus far in the commercial world, he loves the personal aspect of residential construction: getting to be face-to-face with clients, transforming their homes into their dream spaces. He loves that construction allows him to use both his hands and his mind to complete projects. His move to residential construction was also motivated by a desire to work standard business hours so he can spend more time with his wife of 15 years, Tasha, and their three girls, Macey, Abigail, and April.

His has a family lake house on Lake Somerville where they spend time together, and that consistently has ongoing remodel projects. In his free time, he can be found doing anything outdoors: camping, hiking, cast iron cooking, fishing, hunting, and taking his RV to state parks. Ashley’s experience, creativity, professionalism, passion, and attention to detail make him the perfect fit to lead our field work. We are so thankful to have him on our team!

About Hunter

Hunter Strother

A Bryan native, Hunter has been in the construction industry since childhood. While his mother taught elementary school, his father was a general contractor. Growing up around construction, he would tag along with his dad to job sites: often equipped with his own tool box filled with toys. Starting around the age of twelve, he began to do paid work for his father: starting with deck construction, fencing, siding, and was eventually allowed to try his hand at cabinetry and trim carpentry. He quickly excelled in these areas, and learned that attention to detail is one of the most important qualities in a good carpenter.

Over the years, he’s had the pleasure to work in many historic homes, and found a niche reproducing hard to find or non existent materials. After nearly 20 years working alongside his father, he transitioned to Price Cabinet Company where he worked in a supervisory position, as well as being their singular specialty carpenter. While there, he was able to work on many custom cabinetry projects. It was during this time that his passion for traditional carpentry was reignited. He began to build pieces with traditional hand tools and minimal power tools in the hopes of keeping the craftsman spirit alive.

In 2019 he married his best friend Kristin, a local Realtor, and they adopted their dog, Woody (a very appropriate name for a carpenter’s dog). Hunter likes to say that he has saw dust running through his veins: woodworking is more than just a simple hobby or a job for him. It is his passion, his career, and his life long pursuit of making peoples dreams out of wood.

About Devin

Devin Levias

Junior Carpenter

As our Junior Lead Carpenter, Devin works directly with Chester & Hunter on job sites and in our cabinetry workshop. From on site demolition and trim work, to cabinetry builds and installation, Devin plays a very hands-on role for our projects.

Before coming on board, Devin worked 3+ years as a carpenter’s apprentice under Robert Dailey with Dailey Woodworks. Dailey Woodworks builds high quality custom furniture here in Bryan / College Station. In this position, Devin learned a lot about custom carpentry, and to approach all his projects from a high quality, detail-oriented perspective. Devin brings a high level of knowledge & hard work ethic to our team!

What sets us apart…

One unique thing about our company is that we have a very small pool of subcontractors for every trade. Many general contractors will “shop around” for different subcontractors for your project, choosing whichever tradesman will charge them the lowest amount, while potentially justifying the higher cost to you. Ultimately, they are just looking for their maximum profit margin, and not as concerned with the end product. Often times, this leads to lower quality work from the subcontractor, who underbid the project just hoping to win the job. However, our subcontractors know that all of our projects are theirs, as long as they continue to produce high quality results. The loyalty and mutual respect between us and our subcontractors sets us apart from other remodelers. Likewise, our subcontractors get to know each other, and work together seamlessly to provide a smoother overall remodel experience.

Another benefit to our company structure is that we have a team of in-house carpenters. They complete all of the demo, framing, cabinet build & installation, trim carpentry, and hardware installation on our projects. As you can imagine, having all of these elements of a project performed in-house, where we can set their schedule, significantly helps us keep our projects on schedule. A lot of general contractors use subcontractors for every phase of a construction project. Understandably, these subs have other projects going on for other G.C.‘s, which can cause delays on your project. While this can happen with any trade, having in-house carpentry significantly reduces the chances of delays.
