Living Room Built-In Cabinets

Our clients, Jonathan & Amy, reached out to us about constructing some custom built-in storage in their living room on either side of their fireplace. Buck constructed two sets of lower cabinets on either side with a solid wood topper and a matching fireplace surround.

Originally, the gas nozzle for the fireplace was hidden behind the left side of the fireplace surround. The left piece swung out where our new built-ins were going to be. However, because the built-ins would now be in the way of the door, Jonathan & Amy opted for a half door that swung in toward the fireplace. This allowed our built-ins to flow directly into the fireplace surround, and to still allow easy access to the gas nozzle.

Custom Built-In and Fireplace Surround

Our head carpenter, David, recently finished this beautiful custom built-in piece including a gorgeous fireplace surround. Every bit of cabinetry and trim work was specifically designed to the needs and vision of our clients.

Amy & Zac are remodeling almost an entire home, and doing much of the work themselves. They decided to make the best use of this bare wall and hired us to construct a custom built-in piece for an eye-catching and functional focal point in their living room.

They chose shaker style doors for their cabinets with concealed hinges for a classic, clean look, and black hardware to match their ledger and hearth.

We had a black ledger stone installed around the fireplace and a new black granite hearth installed. The trim around the fireplace and on the mantle was created to match the shaker-style cabinet doors and trim on the bookshelves, giving the entire piece a cohesive look.

We are so thankful to have David on our team creating one-of-a-kind pieces like this for our clients. He has twenty years of carpentry experience, crafting everything from furniture, vanities, cabinets, shelving, and other custom built-in pieces. We are excited to announce that we will be moving into a larger workshop this week so he can handle even more custom carpentry projects for our growing business. Keep an eye out as we post more about David and our expanding carpentry services!
